Abstract
This Investment Policy Monitor looks at political risk insurance as a tool for derisking foreign direct investment in structurally weak and vulnerable countries. It shows that export credit agencies account for 78% of cover issued over the past decade, with multilateral institutions and private insurers far behind, and that least developed countries receive only a small share. It previews the fuller UNCTAD policy review on the same subject.
