Abstract
For a decade, European integration seemed to rely overwhelmingly on economic progress: the single market, harmonised market regulation and the euro. The contributions to this Intereconomics forum argue that rescuing Europe from the financial crisis requires mutual support and solidarity, which economic rationales alone cannot supply, and discuss how to strengthen a citizens’ Europe.
