Prof Dr Christian Kastrop

Christian Kastrop is President and CEO of the Global Solutions Initiative in Berlin, which he joined in September 2023. He is also Honorary Professor of Public Finance, Fiscal Rules and International Institutions at the Freie Universität Berlin and a Fellow at the Hertie School.

His work focuses on public finance, international economic cooperation and digital policy. From 2020 to 2021 he was State Secretary for Consumer Policy and Digital Society at the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection. He previously held a director post in the OECD Economics Department, worked at the Bertelsmann Stiftung and held senior posts at the German Federal Ministry of Finance.

Christian holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Cologne.
