Abstract
The report places transatlantic economic relations in historical context and argues that their political agenda and institutions are largely dysfunctional. Viewed through industrial relations and real examples from both sides of the Atlantic, it makes the social dimension central to the relationship’s future. It proposes guiding principles for transatlantic trade and a new secretariat as a permanent contact point.
