Prof Dr Benedict O. Oramah

Benedict O. Oramah was President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) from 2015 to 2025.

In 2026 he was elected Patron of the Royal African Society, appointed Senior Advisor on Strategic Financing to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and named to the Governing Council of Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund. He chairs the boards of the Fund for Export Development for Africa and the African Medical Centre of Excellence. His work focuses on trade finance and intra-African trade. Oramah joined Afreximbank in 1994 from the Nigerian Export-Import Bank.

He holds a BSc from the University of Ibadan and an MSc and PhD in agricultural economics from Obafemi Awolowo University.
